Acrylic on Canvas and Wood | 12 × 16
Inspired by the tarot card, The Fools, with its patriotic colors, looks at how America has dived into chaos, mistrust and individualism. The Fool card in tarot is the beginning of the journey, so hope remains.
Oil and Acrylic on Canvas and Wood | 36 × 48
Remember when you were young and you used to see birds? Like giant flocks of pigeons or crows, flying in unison, landing on power lines and tree limbs. Where have all the birds gone? It’s not until things disappear that we see their value.
Oil on Canvas | 36 × 48
I was raised in the Appalachian mountains and call the foothills of North Carolina home. Growing up, Christianity was a club I was not a member of. As an adult, the grip Evangelicalism has on the area has become overwhelmingly apparent. The mountains are home, they hold you and can comfort the soul. Leaving is not an option. So painting is my only recourse. This piece symbolizes the hold Evangelicalism has on my home, creating the feeling of being outside the circle.
Oil and Cold Wax on Canvas | 36 × 48
There’s an actual conspiracy theory floating out there, with a book written and everything, stating that birds have been replaced with drones. As we careen towards new technologies (AI) who can we trust and is big brother really watching??
Smaller Pieces to Fit Any Space.
Hares and snakes are common in my work. Easily recognizable as innocence and the sinister, when pictured alone, hares represent hope. I painted this one after a gallery hop in one town over. High on the feeling of the collective and the artist community, hope was abundant.
Oil and Cold Wax on Canvas / 24 × 30
Two black swans mirror each other. Sometimes we create art just to create. This is one of those cases. No hidden meaning, just something I felt the urge to make.
Acrylic and Wood on Canvas | 12 × 12
I am obsessed with folk art and quilts. What better way to speak to the unraveling of America than with pieces made to look like a quilt square with modern themes. American Quilt Unraveled No. 1 speaks to the chaos which has been unleashed in our country. Also shown are pieces that have inspired me along the way.
Oil and Wood on Canvas | 12 × 24
The snake is seen slithering through the red clay - the type found in my North Carolina home.
Acrylic and Wood on Canvas | 12 × 12
No. 2 of the American Quilt Unraveled series focuses on pastoral elements versus sinister ones, a commentary on past verse present.
Acrylic on Canvas | 24 × 36
Cycles continues the theme of the hare and the snake - one innocent, one sinister. Snakes circle the hares as they lay incapable of movement.
